Simon Oliver's descision to change the SEN regulations

In November 2008 the SPECIAL EDUCATIONAL NEEDS Tribunal Regulations are due to be amended leaving us as parents at a distinct disadvantage. Mr Oliver (see photo -responsible for the so called new regulations) has quoted " he is on standby to talk to anyone" the question must be then, why hasn't he spoken to us as parents? The changes he proposes to make to the regulations have taken the whole process out of parents hands, not only in who we chose to and not chose to have access to our children but also in taking away our Lay Reps as they will now be liable for costs and in doing so giving us no option but to employ Barristers. If mainstream children were subjected to such intense regulations there would be a public uproar. Our only crime is to want a suitable education for our special needs children and for disagreeing with the Local Authority. Please support our group by posting your comments and thoughts regarding this very serious issue. Help us to help the secretary of state realise that all the things he assured us would not happen have already resulted in Barristers being appointed by the Local Authority and direction to asses a child in the first hearing to be heard under the new regulations.

Why should Local Authorities have the power to tell us as parents of how and where our children should be educated. Even more shockingly have the power to asses our children against our wishes!!! Together we can stop our children being discriminated against in such an appalling manner by those in authority.
